Peningkatan Pengetahuan dan Keterampilan Kader STBM dalam Pengolahan Air Bersih Melalui Pelatihan Sistem Filtrasi di Desa Bale

Abstract

Access to water of appropriate quality remains an important environmental health issue at the community level. Limited knowledge regarding water quality, water treatment, and the practical use of filtration technology may affect household water management practices. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of sanitation cadres and community members regarding clean water treatment using a filtration system. The activity was conducted in Bale Village, Tanantovea District, Donggala Regency, on 2 September 2026 and involved 15 sanitation cadres and community members. The implementation methods included interactive education, discussion, pre-test, demonstration of the filtration system, guided hands-on practice, post-test, observation of practical skills, and preparation of a follow-up plan. All participants completed the entire activity series. The average knowledge score increased from 56.7% before the training to 87.3% after the training, representing an increase of 30.6 percentage points. The largest improvement was observed in participants' understanding of the stages of using the filtration system, which increased from 46.7% to 86.7%. Furthermore, 93.3% of participants achieved a good knowledge category after the training, compared with 40.0% before the activity. The average practical skill score reached 85.6%, categorized as good. The participatory integration of education, demonstration, and direct practice strengthened participants' understanding and practical ability to operate and maintain a filtration system. Follow-up assistance and water quality testing before and after treatment are recommended to support sustainable and appropriate application of the technology.
