Peningkatan Literasi Laboratorium melalui Kegiatan Pengenalan Alat dan Keselamatan Kerja Siswa SMA

Pembelajaran sains abad ke-21 menuntut keterampilan proses ilmiah melalui kegiatan praktikum laboratorium. Namun, pemahaman siswa sekolah menengah mengenai penggunaan alat laboratorium dan penerapan keselamatan serta kesehatan kerja (K3) masih belum optimal. Kondisi ini juga ditemukan pada siswa SMA IT Al Qalam Gowa yang telah melaksanakan praktikum tetapi belum didukung program pengenalan laboratorium yang sistematis. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi laboratorium siswa melalui pemahaman fungsi alat, prosedur praktikum dasar, dan standar keselamatan kerja. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tiga tahap utama, yaitu persiapan melalui koordinasi dan penyusunan materi, pelaksanaan berupa penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan praktik sederhana, serta evaluasi melalui diskusi interaktif dan observasi partisipasi siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap penggunaan alat laboratorium, kepatuhan terhadap prosedur praktikum, serta kesadaran penerapan K3. Pendekatan berbasis praktik langsung juga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan minat siswa terhadap pembelajaran sains berbasis eksperimen. Program pengenalan laboratorium ini efektif dalam menjembatani kesenjangan antara ketersediaan fasilitas dan kesiapan siswa, serta berpotensi memperkuat budaya keselamatan laboratorium dan kualitas pembelajaran sains di sekolah menengah.
